Bush Hogging
We bush hog overgrown fields, pastures, vacant lots and pond banks with a brush cutter on a compact track loader. We do one-time cuts, and repeat cuts for HOAs and property managers.

In Greenville, land clearing often starts with a single overgrown lot. It might be a vacant lot gone to briars and saplings, or a wooded back corner behind an older house. Much of the city sits on red clay slopes above the Reedy River and its creeks. Inside the city limits, the city's tree rules can also apply before trees come down.
Greenville is part of the service area for our land clearing around Duncan and the Upstate. Blackwell's Land Management takes down brush, briars, saplings and small trees with a brush cutter on a compact track loader. The grapple pulls small stumps, and the debris is hauled off or piled where you want it. Call or text (864) 747-5946, and we look at the lot before we put the quote in writing.

Greenville has 39,373 housing units, and more than one in five was built before 1960, Census estimates show. Overbrook, one of the city's first suburbs, was fully developed by 1924. Older yards in the city can hide an overgrown back corner or a fence line lost in briars.
The city keeps growing, and the Census Bureau puts it at 75,310 people in July 2025. That is up from 70,720 at the 2020 Census. About one in four homes in the city went up in 2010 or later. Before any build, we go over what stays standing and what comes off the lot.
Cecil soil covers about half the land inside the city limits, the federal soil survey shows. In a typical Cecil profile, red clay starts about 8 inches down. Bare ground on a slope washes easily in a hard rain.
The largest soil map units in the city run on slopes from 2 to 25 percent. On a steep lot, leaving some growth in place can help hold the bank. After the clearing, land grading can shape the ground so water runs away from the house.
FEMA's flood maps cover the Reedy River and creeks like Richland Creek and Laurel Creek. Development in the floodplain needs a city stormwater permit first. City and state rules also ban dumping any material into a stream or channel. So brush cut near a creek gets hauled off or piled well back from the water.
Inside the city limits, they can. City Council approved an updated tree ordinance in January 2021. It covers homeowners who bought after June 30, 2021. It also covers earlier owners when construction or development is going on at the site.
Before trees come down, property owners must complete the city's Tree Disturbance Form. Heritage trees are those over 20 inches in a buffer or setback, or over 40 inches anywhere on the lot. Removing one brings replanting or a fee, plus a fine. On a new commercial site, any tree over 6 inches must be replaced inch for inch, or a fee paid.
These are city rules, so a lot outside the limits falls under Greenville County instead. In the county, clearing trees ahead of a sale or a build can call for a tree protection plan. Our land clearing takes brush and small trees, and big trees go to a tree service. We plan the clearing around the trees that stay.
Our service area runs past the city limits into Berea, Parker, Sans Souci and Wade Hampton. In those county areas, the Codes Enforcement Division takes reports of overgrown and weedy lots. The county's Answer Book gives a homeowner 20 days to improve a lot under its Environmental Ordinance. Bush hogging cuts tall grass, weeds, briars and saplings back down with the brush cutter.
We also build gravel driveways and grade lots across Greenville. Inside the city, driveway work in the right-of-way needs the city's general encroachment permit. On the lot itself, we spread and grade the stone and shape the drive.
